Aussie Cover Crazy

If you are new to my blog, I like to do a feature every now and then on Aussie book covers to help promote all the great books we have hiding down here.  The following covers all have a touch of dusty yellows, oranges and browns.

My personal favourite is Desert Fish.  From the cover it makes me think it is going to be a beautiful and heartwarming story.  Also I prefer if a cover has a face on it that you just get a glimpse.  So you have an idea but not set imagine in your head before you read it.  My runner up cover would have to be Halo.  I just love the romantic feel.

My favourite cover is Muse by Rebecca Lim.  I love the shades of pink that flows into purple, the artwork and the font type on the title and the light in the photograph.

I love all these covers so it is hard to choose a favourite.  So it is a toss up between Jarvis 24 - I like the whole urban meets romance feel and Slice - simple but a lot of fun. 

All these books would make great reads for Aussie YA Reading Challenge 2011 (a challenge I am hosting here together with Inkcrush).  I have read Raw Blue and highly recommend it. While the others will be going on my reading list for the challenge.

Cover Crazy: Pretty Faces

I love making lists and voting on all the different ones on Goodreads.  So I have created my own meme highlighting Aussie authors and also debut authors.  This week it is also about pretty faces which was inspired by my current read, The DUFF.   Here are some of the best Aussie titles that are all about pretty faces:

                                         

I like the artistic touch on A Little Waiting Song, it really draws you in.  Scout is pretty (I have it in my reading stack) but it doesn't stand out as much as the other titles.  The Sweet, Terrible, Glorious Year I Truly Completely Lost It reminds of The DUFF with the whole bubblegum thing and definitely is a cover you look twice at.  But for me Posse is my favourite.  It is just gorgeous with the light and the hair blowing across the picture.  I also like the placement of the font.

This week's cover crazy is a bit of a cover war.  I have picked my top 3 Aussie titles and top 3 overseas titles for a cover off.   Since I have just finished Embrace, I thought I would do Angels as this week's theme.  Here are my top picks:

 Hush Hush

All those covers are absolutely gorgeous.  Halo is my top pick though for favourite angel cover.  I like it's romantic feel and the light shining through.  Closely followed by Hush, Hush for it's dark and edgy feel.  What is your favourite angel cover?

Do pretty covers suck you in?  I love pretty covers and I love to share them.  Here are some of the best Aussie titles with a beachy/summer type theme.

My personal favourite cover is Saltwater Moon.  I love the artistic border, the beautiful font and mostly the romantic feel it has to it. 

I try not judge a book by it's cover as I have been burnt a couple of times but with covers like these it is hard to resist.  All these books are on my to-be-read list for this summer which is fast approaching here. 

I am going to trying a make this a regularly meme at my blog to share the Aussie book love.  I also will be doing one for debut authors as well.  So check back for those.
