My Book Boyfriend #21

Wednesday, June 22, 2011

My Book Boyfriend is hosted by the awesome blogger Missie at The Unread Reader.   What is My Book Boyfriend you might ask.  Well it is a weekly meme where we talk about a literary crush including stats, a picture of what you imagine he looks like and some quotes from him that make you swoon.  If you are interested in participating please check out Missie blog The Unread Reader.

This week's pick is
Jake from Saving June

He is taller than me be a good half a head, and he looks lean and hard.  Compact.  His messy, light brown hair sticks out in all directions, hike he's hacked at it on his own with a pair of scissors.

Jake ticks all the boxes for me - plays guitar, sings, has a snarky attitude, is a bit rough around the edges and may be shirtless a little bit in the book LOL!

Everyone goes quiet as he begins to play.  His singing is strong and clear, fingers finding the right chords with ease, eyes fixed on his hands.  Shadows thrown from the fire play across his face while he sings about the day the music died in this plaintive, striking voice.  Watching him, I can see how connected to the music he is.  The guitar is like an extension of himself.

He moves so his mouth is right under my ear, brushing the skin there and one of his hands slides up resting on my rib cage.  My whole body tingles as he starts to sing softly  into my ear.

"Hey."  His other hand reaches out, pushing a stray lock of hair off of my face and behind my ear.  "You're not, you know."
"Not what?" My voice is barely a whisper.  My heart races wildly, like I've just finished a ten-mile marathon.  Jake shifts forward so that his face is only inches from mine.  If he moved forward just a fraction, our mouths would be touching.
"Made of metal," he says.

Up close I get a better view; there's no denying the fact he is really, really good-looking, in this rakish, edgy, badass, I-just-rolled-out-of-bed-and-screw-you-I-don't-need-a-mirror kind of way.  He has these piercing, unbelievably green eyes that are as gorgeous and sharp as the rest of him; it's like they can see straight through me.

What do you think of Jake?
Tomorrow I will be posting my review for Saving June.
Followed by an interview with Hannah Harrington next week.

Thanks to Missie for hosting this meme.

*** In the comments sections I get asked a lot where do I find these delicious guys.  Well I find them at...... sorry I can't tell you.  It is like my secret power!  And I would also like to say a big thank you to Readventure who sent me this lovely birthday card a couple of weeks ago (I kept forgetting to show it off).
