In My Mailbox #17

Sunday, February 27, 2011

In My Mailbox was created by Kristi at The Story Siren and inspired by Alea at Pop Culture Junkie.

GIFTED:

The Piper's Son by Melina Marchetta - This is an amazing gift from one of my all time favourite authors.  I already own and have read about 50 times the Australia edition but this is a signed copy of the US edition ~squeals with joy~.  I don't think I have ever hugged a book so tightly (actually I am still hugging it 4 days later).

WON:

Laney - The Brookehaven Vampires by Joann J Martin Sowles - Thanks to Misha at My Love Affair with Books and Joann ((hugs)).  I won a signed copy plus some great bookmarks.  I am a big fan of a good vampire romance so I can't wait to get started!

FOR REVIEW:

Clean by Amy Reed - From S&S Galley Grab - YA realistic fiction.  I loved Beautiful by Reed and the wait for May for it to come in stores was killing me.  Thank goodness for Galley Grab.  And how gorgeous is that cover?
Between Here and Forever by Elizabeth Scott - From S&S Galley Grab - YA contemp fiction.  Elizabeth Scott, need I say more!
The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter - From Netgalley - YA paranormal.  Another gorgeous cover. This is a debut author of 2011.

BOUGHT:
Still on a book budget so I avoided all book stores last week.  It is so hard with all the awesome reviews everyone is writing but I will be visiting my favourite bookstore in just a few days.

GIVEAWAYS - Don't forget to check out my Fury giveaway.  Ends 1st March, 2011. (International)

BLOGS I HEART -  Leanna at Daisy Chain Books Reviews has an awesome feature called Delightful Debutantes.  Also their is a giveaway for UK residents of Across The Universe by Beth Revis.

What did you get in your mailbox this week?
Leave a comment and I will make sure to drop by your blog and check out your mailbox.

Nic, help! I haven't been receiving the full newsletter for Galley Grab or something. I don't know what's happening, but certain titles haven't been popping up. Like Clean. Which I really want to read. And Between Here and Forever and Possession. I emailed S&S and so far, no reply. I am sad.

But congratulations with the gift from MM and the win! I know you're a huge, huge fan of Melina Marchetta so the whole "I've been hugging this book for 4 days straight" doesn't strike me as odd. ;) Happy reading!

Oh wow, congrats on your gift! That is very cool, especially knowing how much you love her books. Congrats on your other win as well :)

Oh Em Squeeeee! How can I be so jelly and happy for you at the same time? I used to sleep with my ARC copy of TPS under my pillow, so I can totally understand you hugging your actual copy for days! I would too! So awesome!

Looks like you got a mailbox full of win, too! That is awesome. Looking forward to your reviews on Clean and Between Here and Forever.

Oh ~ love your mail this week :) MM is kind of adorable for some reason :D

Also ~ I've pre-ordered between here and forever ~ won't get it until June though :( It will be an awesome read I can tell...

A signed copy of The Piper's Son! I'm so jealous. This reminds me that I should pre-order the book from the Book Depository because the local bookstore didn't order copies of the book.

Aww so happy that you got a signed Piper's Son. Melina seems like such an amazing and nice person. Hope I get to meet her sometime. Hopefully at Melbourne Writer's Festival this year.

I didn't get much either this week. It's depressing, and I too am in a spending strike against myself. Driving lessons + CS5 for my Mac isn't a wonderful combination to have in a week where I spent nearly $600 on them.

Thanks for the mention, Nic!

You got great books this week. I must request The Goddess Test soon.

I wish the layout of GalleyGrab was a bit more user friendly - if they had a list of titles available on the site it would make things a lot easier! I only got The Day Before by Lisa Schroeder because a link was posted on twitter. It never actually showed up on my email.

What kind of reader are you?
The Book Whore
Your a collector. You buy and buy (or borrow) books like your life depends on it. Your constantly broke and have a book on you at all times. Your running out of bookshelf space and your always reading a book. Sometime more than one! Your never without, whether at dinner, at work, hanging with friends, etc. You even have an emergency book stashed in your car! You want to read any and all books as possible.

The Book Tease
You try and try, but can never finish, or in some cases start a book. But it looks so dang pretty as a shelf ornament. You buy books that sound interesting, but when it comes down to it, you'd rather do something else with your time. You love books, but hate reading. The next time you decide to buy a book, just save your money because you know you'll never read it.

The Committer
You read. You enjoy reading. But you can never find that one AWESOME book that you've read before. So instead of trying to find a book just as good, you'll read that awesome book over and over until you've worn it out to the spine. You love that book so much you feel like a cheater when you find another book that's just as awesome.

Thanks for all the comments.

Some of you asked about the galley grab saying they were missing from your newsletter. I found those other titles via the author's blog or tweet. I hope that helps :)
